Artists Bio

Glenda Larson Musilek has actively pursued an interest in art from her earliest years. She was fortunate to have art teachers who further fueled that interest and helped develop her talent. Museum visits made possible by an art teacher, introduced her to the world of fine art. That same teacher encouraged her participation in art classes offered at the art museum with guest artist/instructors.

Later, after attending Omaha Art School, she worked as an artist for a large corporation and was subsequently promoted to a supervisory position of the art group.  During those corporate years, Glenda actively pursued her painting, belonged to local art groups, entered local art shows and joined a cooperative art gallery. She also took time to participate in numerous art workshops with local and nationally known artists such as Claude Croney with his energetic watercolor landscapes, Barbara Nechis with her soft watercolor florals, Zoltan Szabo with his wonderful watercolor landscapes, Daniel Green and his fantastic oil and pastel portrait demos and workshops.  She absorbed what each offered with their special skills and worked to apply that knowledge to her own art.  She continues her studies through workshops, art books, videos and  on-line art courses on an ongoing basis to further develop her knowledge and improve her skills.  For Glenda,  lifelong learning is a way of life.  She is always striving to improve her creativity and subsequent art, never satisfied with the status quo.

Glenda left the corporate world to form a graphic design corporation but still maintained an interest in and continued her pursuits in the fine art world. She enjoys working in a variety of mediums, such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, graphite, ink, colored pencil and fiber art as well as  digital art. Her choice of medium is often selected by what she feels will best represent her vision for each painting.

Inspiration comes to her in many forms and influences what she paints either representational or abstractly. The natural environment has been a great source for ideas. She sees abstract images everywhere around her. So much of it fills her subconscious mind and is a ready source to spring forth when she needs it. Other influences are the way light falling on an object, person or scene can affect the mood of the scene and evoke different emotions. The changing light alters the values and defines the subject in such different ways creating interesting shadow patterns that can readily stimulate the desire to paint a scene.

Glenda resides in Omaha, Nebraska where she  maintains an art studio.

Her hope is that her art will draw the viewer in for a more in depth look and when they walk away it will have influenced them in a positive way.
